Details: As a result of cooperation between healthcare industry stakeholders, GS1 representatives and government officials, it was decided to use GS1 barcodes for packaging labeling. Approximately 95% of drugs and over-the-counter drugs in Canada are marked with the GS1 GTIN. The deadline for manufacturers and distributors is December 31, 2023, while pharmacies must comply with the system by December 31, 2025.
