Ensuring that the actual weight of a product matches the declared weight on its packaging is critical for both regulatory compliance and brand credibility. Any significant deviation between the labeled weight and the real product weight, or production outside defined tolerances, may result in reputational damage and regulatory sanctions.
Weight declaration and related information on product packaging are mandatory under many international regulations. The VISIOTT TPS Checkweigher Station enables precise weight control, detection of missing or incomplete products, and verification of products consisting of multiple components. It can also be used to support downstream processes such as price or information labeling based on product weight.
The Checkweigher can be configured according to specific measurement requirements, independent of product type or weight. It complies with official regulations and delivers high-precision results, measuring up to 300(*) products per minute with an accuracy of 0.1 g. VISIOTT TPS can operate fully integrated with traceability and production control systems.
A conventional checkweigher consists of infeed, weighing, and outfeed conveyors. A load cell positioned under the weighing conveyor detects weight variations while the belt is in motion. Using advanced mathematical algorithms, the system calculates the exact weight of each product. The internal automation system evaluates this data and determines acceptance or rejection. Products outside the predefined tolerance range are automatically diverted to a locked reject box via an air piston mechanism.
Checkweigher can be customized according to operational needs and may be equipped with an industrial printer to apply weight- or data-based labels after the weighing process. Depending on application requirements, the system can be designed to be resistant to water and dust and suitable for wash-down environments.
Managed by VISIOTT TPS Line Manager (Level 2) software, Checkweigher controls all weight measurement and verification processes. Operational data from the production line is stored in a centralized database. The 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software architecture enables full audit trails, electronic records, and reporting. VISIOTT TPS Line Manager (Level 2) can be seamlessly integrated with any Level 3 factory management or ERP system.
