Achieve Algeria Traceability Compliance by 2027 with VISIOTT | TPS Solutions
Algeria is entering a critical phase in pharmaceutical supply chain transformation. As counterfeit prevention and public health transparency become national priorities, the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products (ANPP) has announced a full-scale serialization and aggregation mandate to come into effect by January 1, 2027, as part of Algeria traceability compliance efforts.
At VISIOTT | TPS, we’re actively supporting manufacturers, CMOs, and importers in Algeria with end-to-end Algeria traceability compliance solutions, including hardware, software, and systems integration. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for this transition — and how we can help.

What Is the 2027 Traceability Regulation? | Algeria Traceability Compliance
In line with global standards and regional efforts to fight counterfeit drugs, Algeria’s ANPP published a roadmap requiring full serialization and aggregation of pharmaceutical products distributed in the Algerian market, in accordance with Algeria traceability compliance.
Key milestone:
- Mandatory compliance deadline: January 1st, 2027
This mandate applies to both locally manufactured and imported medicines, and is aimed at creating end-to-end traceability from production to patient as part of Algeria traceability compliance.
Regulatory Roadmap (2024–2027)

The regulation is overseen by ANPP (Agence Nationale des Produits Pharmaceutiques) in coordination with the Ministry of Health and GS1 Algeria.
Who Must Comply?

Barcode and Data Requirements
The Algerian traceability system follows GS1 global standards, with specifications as follows under Algeria traceability compliance:
- GS1 DataMatrix on each saleable unit (e.g., carton box, vial, bottle)
- Mandatory encoded fields:
- GTIN
- Serial Number
- Batch Number
- Expiration Date
- All barcodes must be machine-readable and meet defined quality grading (ISO/IEC 15415)
For aggregation:
-
Bundle, shipper case, and pallet-level aggregation
-
GS1-128 or DataMatrix barcodes for higher packaging levels
-
Expectation for EPCIS file exchange in the future (data reporting not enforced yet but planned post-2027)
